The landing place

Leaving Viareggio, you reach the landing place of the Nautical Club in Marina di Carrara after a short stretch of navigation, the previous station being Marina di Massa. This is the port from which the blocks of marble extracted in the Apuan Alps depart to reach places all across the globe. Opposite us we see the mountains, the white that descends along their slopes is not snow but the mark left by the quarries that recall the great Michelangelo. It is a modern, safe landing place - amidst countless yachts - heavy sea conditions do not preclude access to it.

Interesting facts

Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Protagonist of the Renaissance: universal works such as the David and the Pietà originated here. The ancient Romans came to this place to extract their precious marble, and still today, the most successful sculptors on the planet come to this location to create their masterpieces.
