San Terenzo

This value, expressed by a minimum of to a maximum of
indicates exposure to atmospheric events that can make it necessary to close the landing wharf.

The landing place

Coming from the sea, what is immediately noticeable is the castle. The landing wharf is located right on the slopes of the rocky spur on which the fortification stands that was built in the fifteenth century by the inhabitants to defend themselves from pirate raids. As you approach, the details of the hamlet become more and more distinguishable, the equipped beach, and the coastal promenade in white Carrara marble embellished by the protruding branches of tamarisks.
The landing place is located in a narrow stretch of the sea bordered by two breakwaters. Accessible to small boats, the sea, and strong winds can make it difficult to get on and off the boats.

Interesting facts

San Terenzo has another peculiarity: it is a famous place for diving courses - its shallow waters and its breakwater make it the perfect place for beginners, above all for the presence of numerous sea slugs, small brightly-colored marine animals.

Every year the hamlet of San Terenzo participates in the traditional "rowing challenge", the Palio of the Gulf that 13 villages take part in.

Advantages

Reaching San Terenzo from La Spezia, Porto Venere, Lerici and Tellaro is quick and pleasant. You can enjoy the sea breezes, the sun and the panorama. It is ideal for tourists and local inhabitants from La Spezia who want to spend a day on the beach or take a trip here, without the stress of having to find a parking place or having to pay for parking within the blue lines marked on the pavement. No intermediate stops and the cost, for residents of the province, is comparable to that of the bus.
From the Cinque Terre and the hamlets of the Costa dei Pirati (Cadimare, Fezzano and Le Grazie) San Terenzo can be easily reached with a single stopover in Porto Venere.

What to reach

From San Terenzo, in fact, it is possible to reach Lerici on foot, following the famous “castle-to-castle” walkway which takes about half an hour. Those who travel along it will be able to see priceless literary localities up close, places linked to the memory of the poets Byron and Shelley, and reach one of the numerous beach resorts, or the portion of Venere Azzurra public beach where it is possible to do a bit of surfing.

On such days, when the waves of the open sea reach the beach, swelling up in a white roar, reaching the San Terenzo dock is not possible, considering how exposed it is to the breakers. However, that of Lerici, protected by the bay and the port, constitutes safe docking.
